Jenton Dimaco Solutions - Behind the Scenes
All Jenton Dimaco label verifications solutions run on our Veri-CENTRAL site-wide server.
Veri-CENTRAL performs 3 key actions to ensure you remain compliant and can prove it.
1

2
3
Veri-CENTRAL manages and controls the data against which you verify – it gathers data from known good sources including MRP systems and spreadsheets so that it knows what the label should be without production operator intervention.
Veri-CENTRAL stores the results of ALL labels which have been verified. This is vital for both audit and continuous improvement.
Veri-CENTRAL controls access to all parts of the label verification process and provides a secure trail of every single interaction with the system - if something changes or an override is authorised you will no by who and when. In addition Veri-CENTRAL provides secure remote access to the verifiers themselves

Entry Level
Seamlessly integrated with existing systems

This system is designed to attach to your existing conveyor minimising both line space and engineering changes
Checks barcode is readable and data is correct. An incorrect code or “n” consecutive unreadable codes will stop the line.
Reject bin to remove random unreadable codes (optional)

Gold Standard
Industry leading solution for label and pack verification

This system checks the barcode for readability as well as data content and cross references it to the human readable data such as best-before dates, price, weight etc.
MK2 Conveyorised checks all printed data on the top and base label as well as the checking the correct packaging artwork. With an integrated electrically locked reject bin the failed packs can only be removed by an authorised user.

Gold Standard ++
Online grading and quality seal check performed

For a true ISO barcode grade an offline test must be performed, but using the latest technology Jenton Dimaco can recreate an almost perfect approximation to this, but on 100% of the packs and in real – time. Most retailers that are moving to GS1 Digital link accept this limitation and require its use.
The quality of the seal on the pack is key to maintaining the shelf life of the product inside. Poorly sealed packs and seals with entrapped product ran significantly reduce the shelf life and so should be rejected at the point of packaging. Jenton Dimaco offers 100% seal integrity check as an option on our systems.
FAQs
Why are barcodes changing?
The traditional barcode has been in use since 1974 and has served us well, but several factors have come together including the drive for food waste reduction and greater consumer engagement meaning that a barcode that contains more data is required – the GS1 Digital Link barcode is the answer
What do I need to start?
The initial starting position should be contacting your local GS1 office. They will be able to advise you on navigating the change. Jenton Dimaco can help very early in the process by advising on data management and how to create barcodes that are easy to verify & read
How much data can a barcode hold?
The simple answer is a lot – up to 150 different data fields at the moment. However the practical limitation is that the more data that a barcode holds the bigger the printed version needs to be. In practise most barcodes will hold a URL, GTIN, a production data or batch number and maybe one additional piece of information such as country of origin
Should the URL point to my homepage?
There are 2 common answers, the first is yes, point to the homepage, the second is to point to a product specific page. In either case you must remember that the URL has to be valid for the life of the product – less of a problem with a piece of meet than a table! - and that the URL should be as short as possible to minimise barcode size so consider using a code rather than full text
Will I need a special app to read the code?
The end user will be able to read the code using a standard smartphone with no special app, just the camera. Retail stores may use their own app to read. The barcode to get store specific information, for example for stock rotation
Will I need a new printer/coder?
If your existing printer can print high quality 1D barcodes then you may be OK, but generally these codes need a high quality print to work. The Jenton Dimaco label verifiers will check they can be read and give an ISO equivalent grade
